Retrieve Technique - MW62/72/105
Retrieve Technique
1. Retrieve Technique for Rocky & Reef Areas
Much like fishing shallow flats, but reefy areas are best fished after dark and with very slow retrieves. Try occasionally banging the lure hard into the bottom with a faster erratic retrieve to entice fish into striking.
2. Retrieve Technique for Snag Structures
Cast the MW as close as possible to the structure as possible, then work the lure past the structure with a slow twitchy rod tip action for best results.
3. Retrieve Technique Flats
Long repetitive casts, working the lure across the shallows, targeting gaps in the weed or subtle depth changes on the bottom. Slow constant retrieves with the occasional pause to allow the lure to rise to the surface works well. Erratic downward tip movements of the rod with constant pauses works.
3. Retrieve Technique Dams & Lakes
Try down-rigging to the required depths for excellent results on rainbow and brown trout.
Recommended Outfit

Spinning outfits between 6 to 12lb
2000 to 3000 size reel
Bait casting outfits between 6 to 14lb

Colour Choice
As a general rule, use natural baitfish colours on fine days and in clear water, and bright colours on overcast days and in muddy waters.
